Who is Tir Nan Og?

Hi! Welcome!

My name is Carla. I am a tailor, fashion designer, textile artist, and writer originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2011, I founded Tir Nan Og, a creative universe that began as a whimsical clothing and accessory brand, finding its home in renaissance fairs, alternative festivals, and psytrance gatherings. From the very beginning, every piece was designed, crafted, and presented by my own hands.

My current projects include one-of-a-kind handmade clothing and accessories, created using both natural and experimental dyeing techniques, botanical crowns and headpieces, children's books and adult books in development, and a growing collection of workshops and educational offerings that will emerge over time.

I'm also a faerie folklore and fairy tale book collector.

In Tir Nan Og, I am Faerie Queen Charlotte.

Every garment and accessory is designed and handmade by me alone.

What are your influences? What inspires you?

Nature, faeries, the occult, darkness, psychedelics, outer space, chaos, and music.

I've always loved the faerie-style clothing I first discovered through the psytrance scene around the world. From my humble home in Argentina, I was only a distant admirer of the beautiful girls in the northern hemisphere who had the resources and talent to create it. So I dedicated my life to learning the skills to become one of them too. Along the way, I've been collecting the delicate materials I need — since most of this style is built from vintage and antique cotton, lace, and other natural fabrics.

I love people to look like faeries.

I'm also a collector of faerie lore, fairy tales, and vintage children's books. This is another deep well of inspiration for me — not just for the objects I make, but for my entire philosophy of life.

Where do you find your materials?

In Buenos Aires, I spent years digging through the hidden corners of the San Telmo neighborhood, searching for vintage fabrics and laces. I found so much, thankfully — and I was able to bring about half of it with me to Canada. The other half is still in Buenos Aires, safely watched over by my darling mom. I'm hoping that on my next trip, I'll finally be able to bring the rest home. I also love the sustainable shops that Vancouver has that are dedicated to repurpose remnants and small pieces of wonderful fabrics to the public.

Where is your shop/studio?

I'm based in the Vancouver, British Columbia area — the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Right now, I only sell in person or through my online shop.

Can I make a donation?

Contributions are always welcome! I mostly work with antique and vintage textiles, along with new natural fabrics like cotton, silk, and hemp, as well as naturally preserved flowers and other small organic materials. I also gladly accept dyeing supplies — send me a message if you'd like to mail a package.

Yes! Contact me. All my designs are available in a wide size range so I can work with whatever you have in mind just for you. This includes everything from everyday wear to weddings and special occasions. Clothing and accessories. Please reach out so I'm aware of your interest.
